However, it will take up all the legal problems coming out of professional negligence, as and when initiated on its members, and provide the best medico-legal defense against medico-legal risk, problems and cases — including all legal cases and suits of every nature, viz. criminal, civil, under any Act or Law, related to medical service or treatment.

Members are benefited through value-added personalized services on an all-India basis. In case of any emergency or problem, a member is required to just give a telephone / mobile call to Doctorshield and can expect prompt assistance at their doorstep.

Insurance Companies
  • Only cover Consumer Cases under Professional Indemnity / Errors & Omissions Insurance — the insured must follow up thoroughly with the company and its lawyers.
  • Will entertain a case only once legally implicated, requiring the insured to first appoint a lawyer and implead the company through Consumer Court.
  • Have a set panel of lawyers who may not have requisite medical-science knowledge.
  • Provide no door-step services — the insured must approach the company and its lawyers directly to defend their case.
  • Have no provision for malicious prosecution services after adjudication.
  • Have no legal or medical advisors for queries pertaining to their insured's legal problems.
  • May not settle claims within the scheduled period if the insured does not follow up.
